Governor Visit

Today we had a visit from our link Governor, Mrs Hughes. We told her all about the things we
are going to try to do and the things that we have already done.
We showed her the presentation that
we showed the school, what we did for Children
in Need and we discussed Playground Pals.

She thanked us for all the hard work that we have done already.

Here we are taking notes.

Here we are explaining our plans for next year.

Things to Do!

Things we need to sort out in the school and on our blog.

We need to make sure that all of our games work, such as Wic Wac Woe and our fish feeding.

• We need to change our School Council Picture as it’s the old School Council.

• We need to update newer pictures and newer posts.

• We need to keep our promises and stay with what we say, such as having a stage in the playground and paint the cabins but only do this when we have got the money.

• We need to double check on our spellings before we post things up on the blog.

• We need to make sure that everyone is enjoying School Council and that they want to say anything that they want to do.

A New Year!

Welcome to the new School Council!

We have taken a long time this term deciding how we are going to run our school council, and any changes we want to make, because this is an important job.

We have been changing a lot of things in our meetings and around the school. We have let House captains have different jobs e.g.Treasurer and Secretary. We have chosen Cheyenne Lewis as our Chair, Charlotte Thomas as our vice chair, Hannah Witts as our secretary, Emily Mccanas our vice secretary, Charlotte Johnson as our Treasurer, Lloyd Evans as our vice Treasurer.

Vice captains are not allowed to be involved with School council unless needed as they wouldn’t do anything and we would have too many people in the Council.

If any of you have noticed that the School Council picture is from last year then don’t worry because we are on it. Miss Harwood has got the camera and we are ready to take pictures of the new Council when everyone is in.

Feel free to ask any questions and to post comments up on our blog.

Thank you.

What a Surprise- Famous Explorer and TV Presenter Visits our School!

Steve Backshall

Steve Backshall came to our School back in September to talk to us about his new television programme ‘Deadly 60’ and to tell us about his ‘Live n Deadly’ road shows where you would of seen a whole host of amazing animals, plus other special wildlife demonstrations.

‘Deadly 60’ is all about tracking 60 of the world’s deadliest animals. In this series he travels to the Rainforests of Brazil and comes across a Bird eating spider better known as the Tarantula number 38 on the deadly 60 list. He also travels to Canada and gets the surprise of his life while kayaking with killer whales, watch missed episodes on BBC iplayer.

Steve will be taking a brand new theatre show “Live and Wild” across the UK in January/February/March 2011 to share fascinating facts and anecdotes about his worldwide adventures with wildlife. For more information visit his website at www.stevebackshall.com

Now for the adults: You may remember Steve was in ‘Lost Land of the Volcano’, Steve led the first ever team of outsiders into the depths of the perfect New Guinean volcanic caldera known as Bosavi. In the jungle interior, the team discovered many species unknown to science – including the world’s largest rat! In ‘Lost Land of the Jaguar’ he descended to the bottom of the Kaiteur Falls to discover a wonderland of frogs and orchids seen only by a handful of other humans.

Here is the secretary typing the minutes for the council meetings.

We have decided to have less meetings this term as we have completed a lot of our aims ahead
of time! We are really pleased.

Since our last post, we have attended a cluster meeting with other councillors, where the common theme was how to improve school dinners. It's not just us!

Our chair has also attended an anti bullying course at the Miskin Manor. We discussed what measures to put into place.
